China is set to handle the local COVID-19 outbreaks in a targeted, science-based manner in order to maintain normalcy of life, stated a government work report released on Saturday.

The country will work towards preventing inbound coronavirus infections and the domestic resurgence of the disease. It will continue to improve its epidemic measures. China will also intensify the research into variants and their prevention. It will further speed up the research and development of vaccines and effective medicines against COVID-19, stated the report.
